Six stages, 14,000 spectators and over 200 performers add up to one big music festival–and a considerable power requirement.
Since its first event in the 1990s, this multi-day event has been the go-to music festival in BC for electronic music aficionados. This year, the festival boasted six stages, each with its own stage manager and unique production style.
The event is hosted on a working ranch that, until recently, had no supplied power. Since 2009, a West Kootenay-based commercial and residential electrical company has been involved in managing the festival’s electrical systems.
While the festival site now has supplied power, it simply wasn’t enough to keep the entire festival up and running. So the electrical company’s owner got in touch with Trinity Power to help supply the rest.
Working with equipment lists and power requirement details from previous festivals, and following multiple discussions with the onsite electricians, we were able to develop a cost effective solution for their needs:
Trinity Power sourced two 500kW generators, along with a 400A 600V automatic transfer switch, all 4/0 cable and multiple transformers ranging in size from 75kVA – 150kVA to supply the required power for the festival’s six stages
One generator operated during all hours of the festival while the other one waited on standby in case there was an issue with the operating unit.
Thanks to our client, with a little help from Trinity Power’s timely and cost-effective solution, the festival was able to proceed with all of the power requirements that were needed to ensure the full operation of the stages, and the unhampered enjoyment of the attendees.
