When one of Oilweek’s Suppliers of the Year needed distribution equipment to help power the construction of their new multi-million dollar propane facility, they came to Trinity Power.
Transacting two billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, AltaGas is a leading North American energy infrastructure company. Since their beginnings in the gas industry over 20 years ago, AltaGas has expanded and diversified into power generation and utilities. Their clean power generation assets have a 1,688MW capacity and they service 570,000 customers across North America through their regulated natural gas distribution utilities.
As part of the company’s commitment to “developing infrastructure”, this client is currently building a propane storage terminal designed to receive and ship up to 1.2 million tonnes of propane per year. The facility will receive rail shipments from sites across Alberta and BC, and then deliver the propane internationally by cargo ship, to the tune of approximately 20 to 30 cargo ships per year.
With an estimated cost of between $450 and $500 million, there is a lot at stake in the terminal’s construction. And powering that kind of project requires a lot of equipment.
The fuel supply giant came to Trinity Power looking for a cost-effective temporary power solution that could be delivered quickly to the site. With our extensive rental inventory and skilled temporary power specialists, Trinity was able to deliver just that.
To provide the necessary power to drive this major project, we delivered 3 breaker disconnects at 1600A, 800A and 400A, 6 45kVA power carts, 2 auto transformers (600V to 480V) for crane power, 2 50kVA transformers (600V to 120/240V) for trailers and a 750kVA medium voltage transformer (4160V to 600V). We also provided 3 1200A I-lines, which we modified to comply with metering.
With large projects, requirements are rarely static, and this project was no different. When the specifications for the required information metering changed, the Trinity team was ready. Within 24 hours, we were able to source, order and ship the new equipment along with installation instructions for the on-site electricians, all while keeping freight costs under budget.
Thanks to Trinity’s quick and thorough service, and our access to a comprehensive range of equipment, this major construction project was able to proceed on schedule and within the budget — a big win for our client.
A major news broadcasting company required an interruption-free temporary power generation and distribution solution while they completed some infrastructure upgrades.
The Trinity team successfully executes a large equipment rental for a gas refinery shutdown...14 generators, dozens of panels and hundreds of feet of cable.
