Early autumn in Ontario is usually a warm, sunny affair that mellows into crisp evenings and brilliant colours. This September, however, for residents of the Ottawa-Gatineau region, fall brought an unexpected disaster. On Friday, September 21st, six separate tornadoes hit the region, destroying hundreds of homes and leaving many more without power.
Individuals and families weren’t the only ones affected — many businesses were impacted by the destructive events, including our client, a Canadian security printing company.
With customers that include private businesses, national and sub-national governments, postal services from around the world, and central banks — including the Bank of Canada — our client prints everything from bank notes to passports, and other high-security documents.
So, when power at two of this client’s sites was taken out by the tornadoes, the stakes were high; getting them up and running again quickly was paramount.
When disaster strikes, supplies dwindle, and the same is true for temporary power equipment. Unable to source the generators they needed to restore power to their two downed facilities, the client came to Trinity Power.
Our team was a calm in the storm.
Despite fielding calls throughout the night from dozens of businesses that had been affected by the tornadoes, when our client called on Saturday morning, we were ready.
The Trinity team had spent the majority of Friday night gathering inventory levels from our re-rental partners and were in constant communication with them, so we already knew exactly what equipment was available.
As a result of our earlier groundwork and trusted generator rental partners, we were able to procure the best solution, within hours of the client’s call. A 1000kW and 750kW generator, plus hundreds of feet of cable arrived on site throughout the weekend.
The Trinity team’s comprehensive emergency response services, developed over decades of experience, our client was able to get back to business as usual quickly, at both locations, making money —literally — throughout the outage until power to the city was restored.
