Shutdowns come in all shapes and sizes. Some last for months, others are over in a matter of hours. But no matter how long a shutdown is scheduled to last, we always design a temporary power solution that will go the distance.
So, when one of North America’s largest retailers was faced with a half-day shutdown at their Fort St. John location recently, we didn’t hold back.
Offering everything from clothing to electronics to groceries, the retailer plays an important role in keeping the community of Fort St. John clothed, fed and entertained.
The shutdown was scheduled by BC Hydro, who needed to replace a wooden utility pole with a concrete one. With a mega store to operate and produce to keep cold, the retailer turned to an electrical contractor to keep them up and running. And that contractor came to us.
Since their inception nearly 90 years ago, this client has been at the leading edge of electrical and communications technology. They pride themselves on their expertise and skill, and we jumped at the opportunity to work with them.
To keep the lights on and the perishable goods safe, the store required a 347/600V generator along with 100 feet of cable. Working within a tight deadline and budget, we hunted down the nearest available generator, which was in Edmonton. In order to keep freight costs down, we arranged to have the generator arrive on site the day of the shutdown, and then sent back immediately the following day.
Thanks to our quick, budget-friendly solution, the mega store was able to serve its Fort St. John customers, and keep its inventory fresh, without interruption.
